Yesterday, the first day of school, I gave my new students an interview so I could get to know them. I teach science but I wanted to know how many of the kids were aware of the political climate surrounding their community, only 3 miles from DC. I asked if they knew who was running for president. EVERY SINGLE STUDENT listed Barack Obama. Some of them were spelled wrong but the message was clear and the intention was there. My favorite response:
